From September 5-22, Michael’s original music was featured in THE LIBERTINE by Stephen Jeffreys, co-produced by the Bridge Repertory Theater and Playhouse Creatures. Wimberley Stage, Calderwood Pavillion, in Boston.

Thursday, July 18, 2013, 8pm: Michael was the featured composer of the Uptown Cabaret at the Indian Road Cafe, New York, NY.

Michael wrote music and lyrics for the title song of The Cabaret Series’ revue NEVER FAR FROM HOME, with script by Lydia Diamond. The Boston Globe called the song one “of the show’s best numbers.” His song “Sunburn” co-written with Joelle Lurie, premiered as well.  Central Square Theater, June 20-30, 2013. http://www.cabaretseries.com/

Michael’s 10-minute musical THE NUMBERS NEVER LIE, co-written with Wes Savick, was produced by SpeakEasy Theatre Company for the Boston Theater Marathon, May 12, 2013.

On January 21 at Second Stage, Darius de Haas interpreted Michael’s song “Without Your Love” from RUNNING BACK in THE CONCERT hosted by Seth Rudetsky on behalf of the Directory of Contemporary Musical Theatre.

“Two songs stood out for their full-bodied ardor: “Without Your Love,” an out-and-out love song by Michael Wartofsky was fully inhabited by the rich-voiced Darius de Haas.”

“The final section of “Never Far From Home” emphasizes the solid foundation home can provide, and two of the show’s best numbers are found here: “Navigator,” music by Thomas Caruso, lyrics by Michael Cooper, and the title song, “Never Far From Home” by Michael Wartofsky.”
